ADD/ADHD

ADD/ADHD is considered a neurological
condition associated with imbalance in brain wave activity

ADD/ADHD afflicts today 6 to 8 percent of children and 4 to 6 percent of adults. These are alarming numbers. The most common treatment for this condition is the use of medication such as Ritalin, which is a stimulant. The reason a stimulant is helpful for children (or adults for that matter) suffering from ADD/ADHD is that it speeds up the slow brain activity typical to these condition. Such slow brain patterns are quite disabling when it comes to generating continuous attention.

Our programs can train the brain to produce more of the frequencies associated with good concentration. In addition, it helps the person develop different cognitive skills necessary for normal cognitive function. Once the learning is consolidated, the brain can produce the required state of focus and attention, automatically. This non invasive and completely free of side effects approach has proven to produce fast and permanent results in both children and adults.

Dr. Monastra and his colleagues have found that Neuro-feedback has proven to be successful, in long term improvement of ADD/ADHD. A group of 100 ADHD children ages 6 to 19 was monitored for one year. All children received parental counseling, academic support and Ritalin. Half of the children received in addition Neuro-feedback training. After 12 months, all children showed improvement in their attention. However, children who stopped taking Ritalin and did not train with Neuro-feedback, lost these gains, whereas those who also received brain wave training, kept their gains even after they stopped taking Ritalin.
