A person's ability to concentrate, focus his
or her attention on one task or more, remember details and co-ordinate
visual and auditory stimuli can be adversely affected by different circumstances
including, aging, fatigue, stress, side affects of medication or as a result
of various medical conditions such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD),
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD), Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), depression, anxiety and
burnout. Other contributors for cognitive deficits include injury, such
as Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Closed Head Injury (CHI). Such cognitive
deficits may include impaired short, working and long term memory, poor
concentration, inability to focus on a task until its completion, inability
to do multitasking, inability to learn new material and process information
adequately.
During the session, you will be guided by a cognitive specialist on
how to train your brain to develop cognitive skills and abilities that
are presently compromised. We use advanced EEG testing and computerized
programs to train and monitor progress. This One-on-One approach will prove very effective for people who are
suffering from moderate to severe intensity of symptoms or for anyone
who is interested in significantly improve their cognitive abilities. Improve the following:
Working memory - retaining necessary
information for short periods of time, yet long enough to complete
specific tasks
Sequential processing - working with
pieces of information, one after another
Simultaneous processing or multitasking
- processing a few pieces of information at the same time
Attention duration - Sustaining attention
for longer periods
Processing speed - the speed with which
information is processed
Selective attention - focusing on one
task at a time
Divided attention - focusing on more
than one task at a time
Sensory motor coordination - coordinating
sensory and motor skills
Visual processing - working with visual
images
Auditory processing - working with sounds
Audio-visual coordination - working with
both sound and visuals simultaneously
Peripheral vision - noticing background
details while focusing on a task.
-
Concept comprehension - understanding
complex tasks and concepts
